So I shall.
The summer is supposed to be a time of sun, love, happiness, and
relaxation…but it is not…at all, not when you’re becoming a big
boy, an adult, a grown-ass-man.
I remember when Summer’s were hours of video game playing, hours of
relaxing, and summer projects that were rad at first but never
finished. I remember when it would be August 01 and I would be
begging for school to begin again, just for something to do. Now, I
feel similar. It’s August 05 and I’m waiting for school to begin, but
not because I want something to do, no I have plenty to do; however
its the need for a change of scenery.
Working at Staples is fine, typically fun, not too taxing, certainly
better than Blockbuster, however it’s the summer classwork that is
driving me to insanity. It’s not at all difficult, in fact three
years at OU has made taking classes at Columbus State look like
freshman high school class work, however its this lack of challenge
that has driven me to lack of motivation. Yeah, obviously my
motivation should be “get the work done, pass the classes, transfer
the credit, and graduate on time” but short term motivation to do the
work isn’t there.
I think what’s gotten me down, and ruined the motivation the most is I
wasn’t able to do any of the stuff I wanted to do this summer. My
previous post commented on all of the Visual Effects software I wanted
to learn and how I was going to spend the summer working on it. Well
that hasn’t been able to happen. Any free time I have I’m usually too
burned out for major lessons. I’ve found myself to be working in
After Effects a lot more when I do get a chance to work on things. I
just recently made an intro animation for Deas’ new project for the
summer. I made one for another GP does that’s pretty simple, and I’m
very much into the new one for flagship productions. I also have been
playing around with an animation I did for 2D Animation that I loved.
I’ve completely tweaked most of it, I’ll post something up in the fall
when I get more time to really play with it.
I had the idea of doing a badass action film in the fall, one that was
visual effects heavy and potentially another one that was more of a
shootout sort. I think I may hold off on the visual effects heavy one
until winter. We’ll see. I’m still going to do a shootout this fall.
That’s all for today,
JCole
